When giving a presentation, it’s common to give your audience handouts to go along with your agenda. Something that not many people realize is that rather than printing these out from Microsoft PowerPoint, you can export your presentation to Microsoft Word in just a few clicks. This allows you to take advantage of Microsoft Word’s robust formatting capabilities and add more in-depth information that couldn’t fit in your slides.
Using PowerPoint and Word (Office 365, 2019, 2016, 2013)
Open your PowerPoint presentation:
Launch Microsoft PowerPoint and open the presentation you want to convert.
Navigate to the "File" tab:
Click on the "File" tab in the top left corner of the PowerPoint window.
Select "Save As":
Choose "Save As" from the menu options.
Choose a location:
Select the location on your computer where you want to save the converted Word document.
Choose a format:
In the "Save as type" dropdown menu, choose "PDF" as the file format.
Save the PDF:
Click the "Save" button to save your presentation as a PDF.
Open Word:
Launch Microsoft Word.
Open a new document:
Create a new Word document or open an existing one.
Insert PDF into Word:
In Word, go to the "Insert" tab and choose "Object" from the "Text" group.
Insert PDF as an object:
Select "Adobe Acrobat Document" from the object types and browse to the location where you saved the PDF. Click "Insert."
Adjust as needed:
Resize or adjust the inserted object as necessary.
Save the Word document:
Save your Word document with the changes.
Using Online Converters
If you prefer an online solution:
Visit an online converter:
Several websites allow you to convert PowerPoint presentations to Word documents online. A popular one is SmallPDF.
Upload your PowerPoint file:
Follow the instructions on the website to upload your PowerPoint file.
Choose the output format:
Select Word as the output format.
Convert the file:
Click the "Convert" or similar button to start the conversion process.
Download the Word document:
Once the conversion is complete, download the converted Word document.
Notes:
The online method may have limitations, such as potential formatting issues.
Keep in mind that complex PowerPoint features may not transfer perfectly to Word.
